The Mrs. Margaret cocktail garnished with mint and blackberry, next to bottle of Barreled Bee honey and bottle of Freeland Spirits Bourbon in Portland, Oregon

The Mrs. Margaret

Named after Margaret Murray-Washington, wife of Black revolutionary Booker T. Washington, the Mrs. Margaret encompasses the best parts of Black history in bourbon making and beekeeping. In 1892, Margaret founded the Lady Beekeepers Club at Tuskegee University, the first of its kind in the country. The organization became one of the most highly regarded programs of the time, paving the way for Black women in the beekeeping industry for decades to come.

Ingredients:

1 oz black raspberry Chambord
0.5 oz lemon juice
4 dashes Blackstrap bitters
4 dashes cinnamon bitters
.25 oz of Barreled Bee bourbon lemonade honey
Garnish with mint & a blackberry.

The legacy of Black people and the art of distilling spirits is deeply interconnected. Bourbon was specifically chosen for this cocktail feature based on its historical significance, dating back hundreds of years. Learn more here
